The Naenae community has become a focal point for Hutt City Council in the wake of the closure of the Naenae Pool. They  have work underway in several areas to support the community while the pool is closed.

The many businesses based in Naenae are part of that community and make an important contribution. And of course many of your staff also live in Naenae and other parts of Lower Hutt. In recognition of this, we are keen to include you and your teams in the work we have underway and so we’re inviting you to meet with us, and other local businesses, to talk through some ideas.

One part of this is community engagement that’s currently underway to ensure the voice of the community is heard in decisions around the pool and wider town centre. We would be keen to hear your views also.

Another part is the work we are doing to put the heart back into the town centre while the pool is closed. This involves developing a series of events and activities and we would love to hear your ideas on this – what you would like to see and how you might be involved.

Additionally, we are partnering with the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce to support local retailers while the pool is closed. Through this partnership, retailers are receiving support to build their business capability as well as marketing support through the Naenae Proud – buy local campaign. We have some other ideas about how retailers and the wider Naenae business community can work more closely together, and we’d love to brainstorm them with you.

So, I invite you to join us, along with the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce, on Monday Sept 16 at the Naenae Bowls Club from 5:30pm – 7pm, to network with your Naenae business colleagues, and tell us your thoughts on all of the above.
