Conversations are powerful. If there is something we want to say, chances are there is someone who genuinely needs to hear it. Too often we choose the path of safety and give up the possibility of addressing issues that undermine our relationships, limit our productivity, chip away at self-confidence and constrain opportunity.

Description

Dr. William Schutz, behaviour specialist and founder of Human Element Solutions, once said

“If people in business told the truth, 80 – 90% of their problems would disappear”.

Sometimes referred to as a courageous or crucial conversation, a vital conversation is one where there are varying opinions, strong emotions and the stakes are high. They’re conversations that are difficult because the topic is unpleasant or difficult to talk about, it involves avoiding or confronting an issue or it’s delivering a difficult message.

Examples of vital conversations could include:

  •       Having a performance conversation with a boss, board or team member
  •       Offering constructive feedback to a boss, board or team member
  •       Dealing with a particularly difficult client or customer
  •       Communicating boundaries
  •       Working through conflict issues with team, board members

In this powerful, practical and empowering workshop you will:

  1. Learn to master your responses – Fight, flight or freeze
  2. Understand yourself and your own views and opinions of vital conversations
  3. Understand what gets in your way of having these conversations
  4. Learn the impact of avoidance, assumptions and perspective
  5. Look at how to speak honestly and use the art of listening to maintain respect
  6. Learn to prepare for a vital conversation and getting in your ‘flow’ during the conversation
  7. How to get unstuck and other tips for success
  8. How to plan for action
