Presenter 4

Alex Stewart, Founder & CEO WombatNET

WombatNET  was founded in March 2019 By Young Innovator Alex Stewart.  WombatNET is a Wellington Based rural Broadband Solutions provider, that seeks to deliver and promote fast reliable and affordable broadband access for all New Zealanders regardless of location.

Alex started the idea back when he was just 13 when he was often asked by older people for assistance when staying in a remote settlement near Whanganui. Alex identified that a solution was to connect properties using radio waves transmitted by towers and as the large providers were reluctant to meet this need Alex created WombatNET

In 2021 Alex put up his first tower on private land and since then the company has gone from strength to strength and in 2021 won Emerging Gold – Services in the Wellington Gold Awards. Alex will talk through his journey and the technology he has made available to people and share where he wants to take his company in the future.
