The Central City Transformation Plan (CCTP) is a road map to the future central city 20 - 50 years from now.

Description

We need your feedback and input to this interactive workshop.

Making Places identified some key opportunities including the riverside promenade, mixed use development, better connecting the city to the river, realigning the transport system to grow the central city, Dowse Square, Civic Precinct Riddiford Gardens Upgrade etc.

Council master planning projects of 1988, 2000, 2005 and 2009 Making Places repeat the common most important theme of connecting city with river. In recent years the Riverlink Project has become the vehicle to realise this and with partner organisations Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC - flood protection upgrade) and the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA - Melling Interchange & New Melling Road Bridge). https://haveyoursay.gw.govt.nz/riverlink

However the CCTP is about the future of the wider central city of Market Grove to the VIC and the foothills of Harbourview/Tirohanga to Cornwall Street.

What will the central city look like in 10, 20 , 50 years time. Who will be here? What will be the shape of housing, apartments, business, retail, hospitality, recreation, and social activity? What are the things we have now and value? What are the things we don’t have but would value? What is the legacy that we will leave for our children and their children?
