About your Coach, Chris Whelan
Chris believes that if you are going to do anything, then you should put 110% effort into it. Whether that is business, sport or community Chris believes it is your attitude, intention and passion that will bring you the success you seek and deserve. Knowledge, understanding and insight combine with energy and intensity to get the results you desire.
Business owners find that Chris’ experience, having owned businesses ranging from IT publishing to fast-food takeaways, education and training and retail, give him a diverse and ‘real’ insight into their operations. His global consulting experience (including Retail, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Professional & Financial Services and FMCG managing teams across 15 offices and 65 people) and two Chief Executive roles (with budgets of $25 million and a staff complement of 130 full-time and 130 part-time) gives Chris ‘big picture’ understanding of direction-setting, team alignment and making effective execution happen.
Chris has worked with businesses ranging from an online publishing team of three to leading the Asia Pacific arm of a knowledge management team and the regional teams for global multinationals. Chris has enjoyed working for and with some of the world’s largest companies (Accenture, EY, BHP, Deloitte, Royal Dutch Shell) as well as several local, owneroperated businesses in places as diverse as Cape Town, Sydney, Hong Kong and Wellington – and many places in-between! Chris has worked with literally hundreds of business owners and managers and engaged with even more through seminars, speaking engagements (2014 Brisbane Global Café) and in workshop settings (World Economic Forum: Africa).

When not working alongside business owners, Chris will be found enjoying his other passions: time with his wife and two great kids, walking the mountains around New Zealand, playing chess and watching rugby (obviously!)
