Climate Change Leaders Lunch

The purpose of the Leaders Lunch held on 2 June 2021 was to meet as leaders of local businesses and organisations and open discussions on what challenges & opportunities there are in Climate Change. How can we as a business community, work together to overcome challenges and exploit opportunities?

Jo Miller, Chief Executive of Hutt City Council joined us to outline the Council’s strategic plan for a Carbon Free Hutt and how the city plans to adjust to the impacts of climate change and sea level rise locally.

Kylie Hathaway, Programme Director, explained a little more about the Community Climate Response Programme and Lead Group Member of Community Climate Response Dr James Renwick provided a statistical analysis on climate change.

Over lunch an informal, open discussion took place focusing on the following points:

1. How can we demonstrate and promote leadership and innovation in the business sector on climate change?
2. What activities are you or others doing now? What are the local stories we can share to build momentum?
3. What is the key information required? What are your unanswered questions?

This was an extremely productive lunch event with some rewarding connections made among those who attended. We will be hosting additional events on Climate Change so let us know if this is an area you are interested in.
