The Vocational Careers Showcase is Coming
Promoting vocational education and ‘earn while you learn’ pathways to secondary school staff and students, the Vocational Careers Showcase is the first event of its kind for the Wellington region this year.
A feature of the Wellington Region Business Expo, this Careers Showcase will be the launch of a year-long programme of events to connect schools, communities and local employers. It is all part of an overall initiative by the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce to assist our young people into local vocational employment.
Many careers will feature
The Vocational Careers Showcase will cover careers in construction, roading, infrastructure and utilities, primary industries, engineering and automotive, retail and hospitality, creative industry, science technology, manufacturing, social and community services and tourism.
As the single biggest business day of the year, The Wellington Business Expo is an excellent opportunity for school staff and students to connect with over 120 businesses and employers from throughout the Wellington region. These businesses will be displaying their products and services in a relaxed, friendly and informal environment.
The Wellington Regional Business Expo is at the Lower Hutt Events Centre on 12 May 2020 and free to attend. A range of Education to Employment seminars will also take place during the day.
The Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce was awarded the contract with the Ministry of Education to provide a programme of events that connect local schools, communities and employers. The Vocational Careers Showcase is provided by the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce, with the support of Upper Hutt City Council, Lower Hutt City Council and McKone Consultancy.
Relevant school staff (heads of department, principals and management teams, along with transitions and careers advisers) and interested students are invited to attend. For event management reasons, it is essential that you register your interest by emailing info@hvcci.org.nz by Tuesday, 31 March 2020.
