The Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, would like to personally invite you to our new Education to Employment Meetup.

No events to show

Description

As a Chamber, we are very aware that many employers are stifled by staff shortages and access to the right skills.  One of the ways to address this is to build strong relationships with our local colleges so employers can access the young talent within our community.

There are many new initiatives underway as part of the Reform of NZ’s Vocational Education System.  Alongside well-known programmes such as Gateway, there are numerous other opportunities to bring schools, students and businesses together. Other opportunities include real life local business projects for students, business people speaking in schools about their industry or business, in-school workshops, student visits to business premises, job shadowing, work experience programmes, and even apprenticeship and internships.

*  Come along and share your views on employment needs
*  Meet careers advisory teams from many local colleges
*  Find out about the new education programmes available to local businesses

All Hutt City Secondary Schools attending this event have the opportunity to engage with local businesses interested in engaging and supporting student’s pathways into further training and meaningful employment.

Building relationships between schools and employers in order to strengthen Gateway connections but also to investigate ‘other’ ways in which the world of education and the world of work can collaborate to improve pathways opportunities and options for students.

This meetup is about building long term relationships between schools and employers to enable opportunities for young people to enter the local employment market.
