Description

"If We Don't Who Will?" brings together four local voluntary environmental groups who will present on what they do, and what you can do, to make a positive impact on the future of our environment.

Each year, people around the world litter more than 7.5 million tons of waste. As a society, when it comes to littering and responsible disposal of waste products, we still have a long way to go.

The 2022 National Litter Audit, conducted by Keep New Zealand Beautiful, found that, overall, the litter problem in Aotearoa is growing worse. If litter, collected from a 1000m2 area, was extrapolated across all of New Zealand, figures would total 3,686,340,000 individual fragments, 258,043,800 litres worth of takeaway containers, 364,965,000 litres of disposable nappies, and 2142 cigarette butts for each person in the country.
