Presenter 2

Ray Tomlinson, Director,  JT Group & SummitBWT

JT Group started 60 years ago as J Tomlinson & Co Ltd, a painting and building restoration business by founder Joe Tomlinson.

In the early years Joe was determined to use the latest technology with the introduction of the paint roller in the late 60’s and
New Zealand’s first airless spray unit that also doubled as a high pressure water blaster in the 1970’s. Technology that produced a superior finish with cost savings back to the client.

This openness to technology continues today with JT Group being proud to introduce New Zealand’s first automated building washing machine, the waterless cleaning system and our new electric water blaster. Technology today that is mindful of a sustainable future.

Presenter 3

James Fuller, Co-founder & CEO Hnry

As contractors having to deal with the burden of tax and financial admin, James and Claire Fuller created a simple, homemade system to calculate and pay their taxes. After a few friends asked to use this system themselves, James realised they were on to something and together, he and Claire created Hnry.

Launched in early 2017, Hnry has become Australasia’s fastest-growing accountancy and tax agency—making self-employment simple, affordable, and accessible for anyone.

The all-in-one service uses innovative software to automatically calculate and pay tax for contractors, freelancers, and sole traders as they earn. For those with uncertain incomes, an algorithm forecasts future cash flow and adjusts user’s tax rates accordingly, so they’re not hit with a colossal tax bill at the end of the financial year.

The Hnry app also lets users take care of the rest of their financial admin in one place, including: raising and tracking expenses; invoicing and quoting; receiving payments; and allocating earnings to savings and investment accounts.

From having just one, unpaid employee in May 2018, Hnry now employs a team of nearly 60 full-time staff based in New Zealand and Australia. It’s a diverse workplace where people are valued, included, and genuinely excited to be a part of the ride.
