      Description

One of the attributes of top performers, in most areas of business and life, is masterful communication skills.

“The Problem Ownership Model” is the fourth in the Better Communication for Better Outcomes series. This series is a "Defensive Driving Course for Communicators"; five seminars designed to give you the communication skills to achieve better outcomes from your interactions with others, in your work and across all areas of your life.

Advanced Communication Skills: The Problem Ownership Model

“What do I say now?” …
“Why did they take that so badly?” …
      “I wish I hadn’t said that” …

If you’ve ever felt this way about a conversation or interaction, this seminar is for you!

Different communication skills work in different situations.

Lyncia Podmore will introduce you to the Problem Ownership Model - a simple diagnostic tool that will guide your conversations to an outcome all parties can work with.

This tool will enable you to choose the communication style that gives you the greatest chance of getting the outcome that you want, starting from an understanding of who owns the “problem”, or is “unhappy”.

You will also learn how to avoid road blocks. These are the things that we say that DO NOT help, even those things that we think are helpful and kind. Don’t worry you’ll recognise all of them.

      Who Should Attend

This seminar is for anyone faced with challenging meetings or conversations from time to time - whether in your work or in your personal life.

      Additional information

About the “Better Communication for Better Outcomes” series …

Communication is an essential part of everyday life and is an important part of any business.  As Tony Robbins put it “The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives.”

Many problems in business relationships are rooted in a communication breakdown of some kind.  And, of course, the same is true for our relationships outside business as well.

We all communicate, a lot of the time. Most of us speak and hear with ease.   And much of the time our communication skills are adequate for our needs.

But there are times when extra skills are essential to achieve the outcomes we desire.  Just like having a drivers’ licence doesn’t mean we have the skills to drive in icy conditions, back a trailer, or change a tyre without assistance.

Sometimes, to get better results from your interactions with others, you need advanced communication skills.  And there are, of course, some fundamental skills that we may never have learned, or have forgotten.

The “Better Communication for Better Outcomes” seminar series is a “Defensive Driving Course for Communicators”. Anna McKinlay (McKinlay Coaching Ltd) and Lyncia Podmore (YOU Coaching) are running this series over October and November, to give you the communication skills to boost your results – in your business and across the board.

You will learn advanced communication skills and tools to:

      • communicate effectively in a wide range of situations, and with a wide range of people,
      • achieve better results from your business networking, and sales conversations,
      • navigate difficult conversations successfully, and
      • build better relationships within your team, with your customers, with prospective customers, as well as in your personal life.

The workshops in this series build on each other. You will achieve maximum benefit from attending all five.  Or enrol for just the specific topics you feel are most relevant to you.
